You don’t always have to add-on to a house to realize its full potential in a remodeling project. This beautiful home illustrates the possibilities when smart design and traditional craftsmanship combine to create a wonderful “new home”.

The primary focus of the first floor was a new gourmet kitchen. The layout was improved by eliminating a built-in pantry closet, shifting the appliance and sink locations and enlarging the existing window. Details include maple cabinetry, engineered stone countertops, and custom tile backsplashes. The other areas of the first floor have been accented by columns and arched dividers. Hardwood flooring was installed throughout the entire first floor area.

Upstairs, the master suite was redesigned around a beautiful new bathroom. The enlarged bath includes a unique tiled walk-in shower with glass enclosure, cherry cabinetry, and double vanity sinks. The creative floorplan includes his-and-her closets within the dressing area.

In addition to the whole-house face lift, the homeowners also included a few “green” details. Butler Brothers replaced all the windows in the home with Energy Star Simonton windows. Two Velux Sun Tunnels were also installed to minimize the use of electric lighting in the upstairs baths and additional insulation was added to the attic to bring the home up to current standards.

This project is a wonderful example of how major interior changes can be made within an existing footprint. Why add space and additional cost when your needs may not require it?
